Congratulations to Student Veterans Robin Yu and Daniel Ranum

CONGRATULATIONS COM STUDENT VETERANS!

Robin Yu, United States Navy Veteran/COM Student

Chosen as a participant in the prestigious Children’s Hospital of Oakland Research Institute (CHORI) Summer Internship Program, Robin will be working with UCSF’s chief of hepatology to build a database of liver clinic patients who have undergone non-invasive screening for liver scarring and liver fat. Robin is a member of Phi Theta Kappa’s All-State Academic Team of California and will be graduating from College of Marin with a 3.9 GPA. He serves as the president of COM’s Veteran and Military Student Club. Next fall, Robin will attend San Francisco State University where he will be completing his bachelor of science in nursing. Robin was a Hospital Corpsman in Afghanistan while serving on active duty.

Daniel Ranum, Unites States Marine Veteran/COM Student

A Military Dog Handler in Afghanistan, Dan will be pursuing an associate degree in nursing from San Francisco City College. From 2014 to 2016, Dan volunteered at Marin General Hospital as lead trainer for new volunteers in the Intensive Care Unit and the Step Down Care Unit. Dan has served as vice president and president of COM’s Veteran and Military Student Club. As a Veteran’s Administration work-study student, Dan helps with the day-to-day functions of the Veterans Resource Center, including responding to inquiries from current and incoming student veterans.
