From the President: Institutional Commitment to Immigrants

Message sent to students and employees on November 14, 2024

Members of the College of Marin Community:

Immigration enriches our campus, community, workforce, and economy, locally, regionally, statewide, and nationally. The College is a proud member of the Presidents’ Alliance on Higher Education and Immigration, which will continue to support and advocate for policies that protect undocumented students and Dreamers with and without DACA, enhance access to higher education for refugee and displaced students, and position us as a top destination for international students and scholars.

To that end, I will be meeting next week with leadership from the College's Umoja Equity Institute and IDEA Committee, as well as managers and staff responsible for student support programs and services, to ensure College policies and resources are aligned to best meet our students' needs—regardless of rhetoric or forthcoming policy at the national level. We will be in touch with specific information and resources in the coming days.

College of Marin is—and will continue to be—an environment where everyone in our communities may thrive in safety, and we are here to support you in any and all ways possible.

Respectfully,
Jonathan

Jonathan Eldridge, Ed.D.
Superintendent/President
