Support COM Cupboard
College of Marin (COM) has been working hard to combat food insecurity on campus. The Pop-Up Pantry and Produce Stand is available for students on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. These provisions there are provided exclusively from donations from area businesses, organizations, farms, etc. through ExtraFood, in conjunction with SF-Marin Food Bank.
The College also offers COM Cupboard, which is available to students Monday through Thursday, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Kentfield Campus Health Center. This particular service is based solely on donations. Contributions to this worthy cause are needed and welcomed. COM Employees may contribute through a continuous payroll deduction; employees and members of the community may also make a one-time check donation.
Here are some figures to help put the need into perspective. The Fresh Produce Stand had 4,648 attendees from July 12, 2017, to February 7, 2018, which is an average of 232 attendees per week. There were 2,406 visits to the COM Cupboard from August 23, 2017, to February 7, 2018--this is an average of 120 visits per week over 20 weeks of instruction.
The Payroll Deduction Form is available online. Return completed forms and checks to Connie Siegenthaler. Your donation will start helping students immediately!
