Summer Career Academy Registration Open to Marin County High School Students
NOVATO / KENTFIELD, CA—April 11, 2018—This summer, College of Marin (COM) is partnering with the Marin County Office of Education once again to offer six career academies for high school students, as well as recent graduates. Career academies are short, but intensive, college courses that offer students the chance to explore their professional interests and discover the nuances and opportunities within specific industries.
The 2018 summer academies range from four to eight days and include Career Exploration, Digital Gaming, Entrepreneurship, SunPower Solar, Health Occupations, and Cyber Patriots.
The program has been highly successful, expanding threefold since its launch in 2016.
“Career academies encourage high schoolers to get started early,” said COM Dean of Career Technical Education. “They’ve been extremely popular, combining intensive learning in careers with a lot of fun.”
The career academies complement COM’s College Credit Program (CCP) for high school students, whereby students can enroll in up to 11 units of regular classes each semester and pay no enrollment fees.
Because of the high demand, entry is via application. Students may apply to and be accepted into more than one academy. The application period is open through May 6.
Visit the Summer Career Academies website for current information.
