New Administrative Appointments

January 17th, 2020 - 5:10pm

During the fall 2019 semester, College of Marin (COM) hired three new administrators; Dr. Sharon Goldfarb as the dean of health sciences, Keith Rosenthal as the director of advancement, and Nicole Cruz as the director of marketing and communications.

Dr. Sharon Goldfarb brings to COM a demonstrated history of working in the higher education industry, most recently as the associate dean of nursing and allied health at Los Medanos College in Pittsburg, CA. As a registered nurse and family nurse practitioner, she has extensive clinical experience providing care to underserved residents and vulnerable populations. Dr. Goldfarb also held teaching positions at the Nightingale School of Nursing, Columbia University, and New York University. She earned a bachelor’s degree in history from Oberlin College; a master of science in nursing from Pace University; and a doctorate of nursing practice from Touro University in Vallejo, focusing on supporting clinical nurse educators through the creation and development of an app.

Keith Rosenthal began his higher education in the community college system, earning an associate degree from Lincoln Land Community College in Springfield, IL. He transferred to Illinois State University, where he received a bachelor’s degree in international business. After graduating, Rosenthal started working in the international transportation sector selling container space on ocean-going cargo ships. Following 13 years in this field, he started looking for a career that would give back to the community. He took the strong communication and relationship-building skills he learned in sales and jumped into the nonprofit sector. After moving to the Bay Area from Chicago ten years ago, he has worked in development roles for nonprofits such as the Schurig Center for Brain Injury Recovery and Guide Dogs for the Blind.

Nicole Cruz has worked for COM since 2007, beginning with a part-time position in the Math and Sciences Department. She quickly took on additional responsibilities and was hired to work in what was then the College’s Communications and Community Relations Department, gaining experience in marketing and communication for higher education. For the past five years, she provided executive assistance to COM’s superintendent/president, served as the public information officer, and handled marketing and communications responsibilities for the District. Cruz earned a bachelor of fine arts degree in interior architecture from California College of the Arts and a master of public administration degree from the University of San Francisco.
