Board of Trustees Meeting Highlights - December 17, 2019

Study Session

The study session focused on review of College of Marin’s sustainability practices and an in-depth discussion on how the College can make even greater contributions to sustainability. The Board selected four Landscape Master Plan Committee community member applicants, and will solicit student applicants to contribute to the committee.

Meeting Highlights Include

Organizational Meeting

The Board of Trustees held the annual Organizational Meeting, pursuant to Education Code § 35143. Officers were rotated, and Stuart Tanenberg will now serve as board president, Wanden Treanor as vice president, and Stephanie O’Brien as clerk, until December 2020. Also, the Board of Trustees regular meeting schedule was approved for 2020, and trustee representatives were appointed to committees. In closing, the Board agreed that 2019 was a very successful year of collaboration for the trustees with many great achievements.

Regular Meeting

During the regular meeting, the superintendent/president formally introduced and welcomed the following staff: Cari Torres as assistant vice president of instruction; Nicole Cruz as director of marketing and communications; and Antonino Cucchiara, full-time physical sciences instructor. 

Other Action Highlights

The Board passed all consent and action items on the agenda. Items included a Temporary Increase to District Contribution to benefits for CSEA Employees for October 1, 2019, through January 31, 2020, Final Measure C (2004) Bond Financial Statement Audit and Performance Audit for the year ended June 30, 2019, Measure B (2016) Bond Financial Statement Audit and Performance Audit for the Year Ended June 30, 2019, an Amendment to Academic Training Contract with Marin General Hospital, DBA, MarinHealth Medical Center, SparkPoint Contract Renewal, Evisions Software License Agreement Renewal for a period of 5 years, Resolution #2019-31 Regarding Elimination/Reduction of Classified Employee Services, and several change orders.
