As the situation with coronavirus (COVID-19) continues to evolve, College of Marin is making plans to help keep our community safe. To limit the potential spread of COVID-19 and given recent guidance from the California Department of Public Health, the College has made the difficult decision to cancel the remainder of winter term as well as spring term classes for Community Education (classes starting late March through mid-May).
Effective Saturday, March 14, all remaining class sessions (including make-up sessions) of winter and spring term COM Community Education will be canceled.
We did not come to this decision lightly and are disappointed to cancel such vibrant learning experiences. A number of factors were considered, including the progression of COVID-19 to-date, the difficulties with moving many Community Education classes to remote instruction, and the risk of serious COVID-19 complications for students and community members with pre-existing health conditions or other risk factors.
Full refunds will be provided to students for spring term classes, as they had yet to begin. Students will be refunded via the same payment method used to register (check or credit card). We will process refunds as swiftly as possible, however, please note that there will be a delay to our standard refund timeframes, due to the high volume.
We realize this cancellation is disappointing to many and we share in your disappointment. We value you as student and look forward to welcoming you back to Community Education summer term classes, with registration starting at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, May 5.
Please note: College of Marin credit/noncredit spring semester classes, including the Intensive English Program, are NOT canceled. Beginning March 23, in-person credit/noncredit classes and course content will be delivered via Canvas, Zoom, and other means, until further notice. College of Marin campuses are not closing. Campus buildings will remain open, and we anticipate that most non-instructional operations will proceed normally.
