NOVATO/KENTFIELD, CA—Thunder Coast Aquatics (TCA) will host the 2023 CA/NV Speedo Sectionals at College of Marin’s (COM) Indian Valley Campus (IVC) in Novato March 2-5, 2023. The event, which is sanctioned by Pacific Swimming and USA Swimming, will bring together top swimmers from across California and the Sierra Nevada area.
This is the first time this specific event has been held in Northern California and it’s an opportunity to showcase the facility along with Bay Area swimming talent. The 2023 CA/NV Speedo Sectionals is an important event for the swimming community—and for Novato—due to the significant economic benefits it will bring to the area. The recently opened Miwok Aquatic and Fitness Center at IVC has already attracted attention from Olympic-level swimmers, and hosting the sectionals further raises the facility's visibility.
“The result of hotel occupancy, entertainment, and dining have a positive impact on the local economy of just over $2 million,” said COM’s Assistant Superintendent/Vice President of Administrative Services Greg Nelson. “This type of economic development benefits the Marin County economy, and specifically the city of Novato. The new facility has become a destination for many events and we hope to continue this in the coming months and years to come.”
TCA, a swimming club in Novato, is committed to developing young swimmers and promoting a love for the sport. Hosting the 2023 CA/NV Speedo Sectionals is a testament to TCA's dedication to the swimming community and its support for sustainable economic development in the Novato area.
Event is open to the public and runs from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. March 2, and 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday through Sunday.
