Campus and Community Mental Health Resources

The following communication was sent by email to employees and students July 10, 2024.

Trigger warning, this message mentions suicide.

On Tuesday, July 9, an incident occurred in Parking Lot 5 at the Indian Valley Campus. College of Marin Campus Police responded to report of an unresponsive individual in a parked vehicle. The Novato Fire Department arrived on-scene first and found a person not affiliated with the College who had taken their own life. Campus Police are working with the Marin County Coroner’s Office to complete the investigation.

College of Marin Superintendent/President Dr. Jonathan Eldridge offers condolences to the individual’s family and loved ones. The College community is reminded of the importance of resources available to anyone in need of support for issues surrounding mental illness and suicide prevention.
