Rotating power outages are likely to occur beginning the afternoon of Monday, August 17, as prolonged heat through Thursday, August 20, is expected to drive electricity demand higher and nighttime temperatures are also forecast to be above average.
College of Marin's data centers in Kentfield and Novato are protected with backup power and are expecting to run at 100% service level.
PG&E urges customers to conserve electricity from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m. in response to the California Independent System Operator's (CAISO) statewide Flex Alert. CAISO is the organization that manages the state’s power grid.
Outages are estimated to last one to two hours. PG&E’s Emergency Operations Center is activated and working closely with the CAISO to support this event.
