MCCA Winter Festival
Film Screening and Potluck Dinner
College of Marin International Education and the Marin Chinese Cultural Association (MCCA) invite you to welcome the season at the Indian Valley Campus with a film screening and potluck dinner. Award-winning filmmaker (and MCCA member) Jalena Keene-Lee will present her documentary The Construct: Female Laborers and the Fight for Equality at 3:30 p.m. This short film follows 20-year-old construction worker San Thi Da and human rights activist Cheery Zahao as they examine feminism among different socioeconomic classes in Yangon, Mynamar. After the screening, Jalena will answer questions about The Construct; her company, Blue Peel Productions; a her newest projects.
The film screening will be followed by IEP's annual winter festival potluck dinner from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Learn to make delicious meat dumplings, which will be served in Kim Luu's famous Winter Melon soup, and enjoy a traditional dessert of tāngyuán (glutinous rice balls). Celebrate the new year early with the MCCA Lion Dance Team. Culture, community, and fun for all ages with games and activities for children. Bring a side dish, salad, or dessert to share.
