KENTFIELD / NOVATO, CA—In fall 2023, the College of Marin Foundation will proudly introduce a new scholarship fund that will benefit Marin’s first-year students. The Melody Palmer Fund is a $1000 scholarship designed to provide $500 per semester for fall 2023 and spring 2024 in support of Marin County high school graduates. This fund was made possible by the generosity of Marin resident Melody Palmer.
What’s unique about this scholarship is that it is automatically applied to first-year students who graduated from a Marin County high school (public, private, or homeschool)—no application is necessary. To be eligible, students must enroll in classes before August 23, have a final high school transcript on file reflecting a 2023 graduation date from an eligible high school by September 1, and enroll in a minimum of nine units for the fall 2023 semester.
Students are eligible regardless of immigration status and income.
The $500 fall 2023 scholarship will automatically renew at $500 with a 2.0 GPA and at least six-unit completion for spring 2024.
Scholarships will be disbursed in September 2023 and February 2024.
"The new scholarship process is intended to increase first-year student access to this incredibly generous financial resource,” says Director of Advancement Keith Rosenthal. "We want to make sure the Foundation supports all of our students. Thanks to the extreme generosity and thoughtfulness of Melody to include College of Marin in her estate plans, we are able to close this gap.”
