Board of Trustees Meeting Highlights – October 15, 2019

October 18th, 2019 - 2:01pm

Study Session

Study session items included a presentation of the Bolinas Marine Field Lab design changes based on community participation and Bolinas Community Public Utility District feedback, after over five months of community engagement. The Board approved the proposed design plans. Next, the College will submit the Bolinas Marine Field Lab design plans to the Planning Commission.

Afterward, the ad hoc Sustainability Committee engaged the Board to brainstorm and come up with an action plan to improve the College's sustainability policy and subsequent practices.

Finally, Assistant Superintendent/Vice President Jonathan Eldridge ended the study session with an engaging presentation on positive enrollment trends and how to keep momentum with the current upward trajectory. Some of the strategies include programs that reach students in high school to capture their interest in College of Marin early on, focus on the programming needs for a wide-range higher education, and continuing education learning groups.

Meeting Highlights

The Board passed all consent and action items on the agenda. This included passing Resolution #2019-25 in Support of Undocumented Student Action Week, October 14-18, 2019, and the 2019-25 Educational Master Plan and 2019-22 Strategic Plan.

Other items included a Dental Radiology contract education course for Marin Community Clinics, a Management Position Reclassification Recommendation and Revised Management, the Supervisory and Confidential Salary Schedule, and a Temporary Increase to District Contribution to benefits for CSEA, SEIU and MSC Employees for October through December 2019.
