Meet the MAPS Peer Mentors

Omar Ali

Omar Ali

My name is Omar Ali (he/him), and I’m in my third year at COM. I’m a Computer Science major, and I’ve participated in multiple programs, such as Computing Talent Initiative, which I would love to share with anyone interested! These programs enable you to make the most out of your major and the opportunities available. One fun fact about me is I used to work as an EMT. I also enjoy music, playing piano, and a North Indian drum called the tablas. Another hobby of mine is playing board or card games. I look forward to meeting you and helping you make the most out of your time at COM!

Moss Fallat

Moss FallatMy name is Moss Fallat (he/she), and I’m entering my second year at the College of Marin. I’m a queer, disabled student planning to transfer for a neuroscience degree. Eventually, I would like to get my Ph.D. in neuroscience and pursue a career in research. I’ve lived in the Bay Area my entire life, and one of my favorite things to do is hike out on the trails in the open space we are lucky enough to have in Marin. I know how confusing the transition into college can be, and I’m excited to join the MAPS team this year as a mentor to hopefully help make that transition a little smoother for some folks.

Stephanie Fayette

Stephanie FayetteMy name is Stephanie (she/her). I am in my third year at the College of Marin and am majoring in Sociology. Additionally, I am a First-Generation college student. I’ve been a mentee in MAPS for a long time and have now decided to become a mentor to give back to my community. When I’m not at school, I’m at work. In my free time, I love to read, write and cook. I’m excited to be a part of MAPS and look forward to meeting and supporting you as much as possible.

Ethan Goray

Ethan GorayMy name is Ethan Goray (he/him), and this will be my third year at the College of Marin. I grew up in the Bay Area and was born in Marin General Hospital. I’m majoring in Political Science and hope to work for the US State Department in the future. I am looking to transfer to UC Berkeley or UC Davis. My favorite thing is driving at night with the windows down, and the music turned up! I’m so excited to meet everyone and help in any way I can!

Hanan Jejo

Charlotte Ruiz

Charlotte Ruiz

My name is Charlotte Ruiz (she/they). This will be my third year at COM, and I am working towards a degree in art. I grew up in Santa Fe, New Mexico, and have been in Marin for seven years. I love doodling and making silly pictures in bootleg Photoshop programs. I used to be very involved in theater, and though I’m not anymore, my love for it remains strong.
I look forward to meeting you all!

Javier Sosa

Javier SosaMy name is Javier Sosa (he/him). I am looking to major in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering and am a First-Generation college student. There is so much that I aspire to accomplish within the field. Anything Science, Technology, and Aerodynamics fascinates me, and I can talk about it for hours! I immigrated to the United States when I was seven years old; however, I am fluent in Spanish and love to have conversations in Spanish. In my free time, I love to jam out and play music, whether with my guitar or bass, since music fills me with joy. I am excited to get to know you and watch you all succeed!
