Resignation of COM Trustee Brady Bevis
KENTFIELD / NOVATO, CA—April 24—2018— College of Marin (COM) Trustee Brady Bevis announced her resignation at the regular meeting of the board of trustees held last Tuesday, April 17. Board members convened yesterday afternoon for a special meeting to discuss filling the vacancy.
Since her term began in 2013, Trustee Bevis has been exceptional in representing the community with vision and far-reaching ideas focused on creating lasting impact. She consistently sought out possibilities to engage and involve the community in her efforts to support education and innovation at COM’s Kentfield and Indian Valley Campuses. Known as a catalyst for change, her high-energy and advocacy led to positive actions which improved the District.
“Trustee Bevis was instrumental in deepening relationships with Novato schools and in forging strong partnerships in support of our career technical education programs,” stated Superintendent/President Dr. David Wain Coon.
Trustee Bevis was a strong advocate for the Indian Valley Campus (IVC) and her passion helped fuel revitalization planning for that campus. Through her outreach and advocacy, the Friends of IVC was reconstituted. This group assisted with the passage of Measure B.
New facilities at IVC, including the Bill and Adele Jonas Center—a partnership with the Rotary Club of Novato—a new aquatic center, and new classroom space for the organic farm and garden program are all possible thanks to Measure B.
“Marin Community College District is very fortunate to have had Brady Bevis since 2013 as trustee,” said Board of Trustees President Dr. Eva Long. “Her significant contributions to our District will be sustained with the goals and work she accomplished.”
Last night, at a special meeting, the board voted to leave Trustee Bevis’ position vacant until the November 2018 election, which is when her term would have ended.
