COM Cancels 2020 Summer Swim

KENTFIELD / NOVATO, CA—With spring sports already canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, College of Marin Athletic Director Ryan Byrne announced the cancellation of Summer Swim for 2020. The annual summer program traditionally allowed drop-in access to aquatic facilities at both the Kentfield and Indian Valley Campuses.

“After discussing the latest changes to the public health order with College administrators, we decided it was in the best interest of both the community and our employees to cancel Summer Swim this year,” said Byrne.

Safety concerns around the pandemic and maintaining social distancing protocols had already led the College to offer all summer classes online.

“We know how important aquatic activity is to our community, so this is not a decision that we take lightly” said Byrne. “However, we do believe that it is in the best interest of our community's health and safety given the unanticipated circumstances of the pandemic.”

College of Marin administrators continue to communicate with public health officials for guidance related to COVID-19 and are working with faculty and staff to finalize academic, athletic, and community offerings for the fall 2020 semester. For the latest updates, visit wwwarchives.marin.edu.
