A recent addition to College of Marin's (COM) Music Department, Dr. Wiebe brings a wealth of experience and enthusiasm to her role as the ensemble's director.

“I am thrilled to be working with Marin Oratorio. This is one of the most vibrant and committed ensembles I’ve encountered, and an integral part of the College of Marin community,” says Dr. Wiebe.

As a full-time instructor specializing in choir and voice, Dr. Wiebe oversees all of COM's choral and vocal ensembles, in addition to teaching voice and classical music classes. Dr. Wiebe has served as professor at numerous institutions in the Midwest, most recently as director of choral activities at the University of Minnesota, Morris. She brings a rich tapestry of knowledge and passion for the arts to Marin County.

Despite having spent many years away from California, Dr. Wiebe's roots run deep in the state, hailing from a fourth-generation San Joaquin farming family on her father's side. Her excitement is palpable as she embraces her recent relocation to Marin and her role within the COM faculty.

“I was fortunate to grow up in Minnesota, where choral music is a deeply embedded in the culture. Since relocating to California, I have been quite impressed with the enthusiasm for singing in Marin County and the Bay Area. I am struck by how the members of my College of Marin ensembles value singing as a crucial part of their happiness, well-being, and sense of community,” said Dr. Wiebe.

Under Dr. Wiebe's baton, Marin Oratorio is set to present two timeless choral masterpieces: George Frideric Handel's Messiah and Johann Sebastian Bach's Magnificat in D major, BWV243. These works showcase the ensemble's dedication to musical excellence and promise an unforgettable experience for concertgoers.

The 100-voice Marin Oratorio chorus will be accompanied by a stellar orchestra and joined by guest soloists Christa Pfeiffer, Jessica House Steward, Buffy Baggott, Lee Steward, and Bill Pickersgill. This dynamic ensemble will bring to life the lush word painting, masterful counterpoint, and choral writing that define these iconic compositions.

Performances take place on Saturday, December 16, at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, December 17, at 3 p.m., in the James Dunn Theatre, Performing Arts Building at the Kentfield Campus.
