Banned Books Week is an annual event celebrating the freedom to read. Held October 1-7, 2023, it highlights the value of free and open access to information. Banned Books Week brings readers in shared support of the freedom to seek and to express ideas, even those some consider unorthodox or unpopular. Since Banned Books Week falls during Black Panther Month, it presents a timely opportunity to recognize erasure of history and Black
authors who have faced challenges and bans of their creations. Come out and browse books and while taking in the exhibit: https://library.marin.edu/blog/revolutionary-art-emory-douglas.

Exhibit co-sponsors: Umoja Equity Institute, Umoja Learning Community, Fine Arts Gallery, Art Department, Arts & Humanities, Communication Department, COM Library
