Nostos Literary Journal: Readings

November 3rd, 2017 - 11:03am

Nostos IconNostos: Poetry, Fiction, and Art is a collection of art, poetry, and short fiction. Edited by Lawrence Tjernell and published twice each year by Longship Press, Nostos is a print-only journal for those who love words and art offered on the printed page with its texture, suppleness, and beauty.

In the inaugural edition of Nostos, seven poets (including B. H. Fairchild, Rebecca Foust, and Lisa Rappoport), a short story author (James Tipton), an essayist (Tony Johnson), and an artist (Lorna Stevens) grapple with the idea of nostos, homecoming. They craft images and impressions of the journey home, the homecoming, and the very idea of home itself.

In another homecoming of sorts, current and retired instructors of College of Marin who have contributed to the journal will read selected works. Marin County Poet Laureate Rebecca Foust will read and—in collaboration with artist Lorna Stevens—will talk about the representation of nostos in words and art.
