Golden Black News is Up and Running

The Communication Department is proud to announce the soft launch of Golden Black News. Students from Digital Journalism and Media Arts Instructors Gina Baleria and Michelle Kennedy are overseeing content creation. Baleria’s class, Writing for the Media, added stories over the course of the semester, while Kennedy’s students worked on individual reports. These reports aired online as a magazine show that cut away to individual, packaged segments. Kudos to Baleria for creating the site and to both instructors for producing and distributing the non-fiction narrative content.  Have a look at Golden Black News

Chester Arnold Selected as 2018 Awards in Art Recipient

Fine Arts Instructor Chester Arnold was selected by the American Academy of Arts and Letters as a 2018 Awards in Art recipient. This is a purchase award, meaning that the Academy buys works from each year’s chosen exhibitors and places the works in museums around the country. The Academy chose Arnold’s “Quarrymen,” which previously premiered in the 2017 College of Marin Faculty Exhibition.

Since the Academy’s purchase program began in 1946, it has spent nearly $5 million to purchase over 1200 works of art by talented, living American artists. All works purchased are donated to American museums. More about the American Academy of Arts and the 2018 awards is online.
