Campuses Reopen After PG&E PSPS

October 25th, 2019 - 9:43pm

Update: Wednesday, October 30, 2019

Power has been restored to the Kentfield and Indian Valley Campuses. Classes will resume as scheduled on Thursday, October 31, 2019, and all College offices will be open.
Many public schools in Marin County will also reopen on Thursday, October 31, following closures due to the impact of the Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS) and the Kincade fire in Sonoma County.
As always, use your best judgment in these situations and work with your instructor or supervisor if you are unable to make it to campus due to family care obligations or health concerns.
Smoke from the Kincade fire, or new fires, could blow into the area and affect air quality. College officials will continue to monitor air quality data from the Bay Area Air Quality Management District.

Announcement: Friday, October 25, 10 p.m.

In anticipation of the PG&E Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS), College of Marin campuses are closed, and classes have been canceled on Saturday, October 26. Once power goes out, the Kentfield and Indian Valley Campuses will remain closed until the day after power is restored to both campuses.

The College encourages students, faculty, and staff to keep in mind that communication systems will be limited during the power outage, emphasizing that every effort will be made to provide updated information regarding status and timing of the anticipated restoration of power using available information channels (COM Connect, email, COM website, social media, and local media outlets). When power is restored, campuses will reopen the following day and classes will resume as scheduled. Notification that campuses have reopened will be sent using available channels.

All questions regarding PSPS events and extended outages should be directed to PG&E via their website and (866) 743-6589
