Commencement is just around the corner and degree completion is on our mind. We annually report on time-to-degree—one of our strategic plan performance indicators—as well as degrees by program type. As part of our focus on equity and inclusion, we disaggregate awarded degrees by demographic group. Recently we looked at associate degrees awarded by economic status. Between 54%-65% of students earning degrees over the past four years were low-income. On average, low-income students take a little longer to graduate than their classmates who are not low-income.
* Low-income students were considered those who, in the term of the degree award date or the term immediately preceding, had 1) received a Pell Grant or BOG fee waiver or 2) been flagged by the Chancellor's Office as "economically disadvantaged.”
